Sarajevo Tour – War Tunnels – Beer Tasting
In the morning we take the Sarajevo Walking Tour.We reach the old town of Sarajevo where our first stop is Baščaršija square and its most interesting symbol; the fountain Sebilj. We continue further to the Kazandžiluk street and learn about the story of origins of copper and tin industry in Sarajevo.Continuing further through the old town, we stop in Bravadžiluk street; an area where the main restaurants and food shops are located. We use this opportunity to try some local foods, like burek or pita.We visit one of the oldest mosques in Sarajevo, Imperial mosque. Then continue to Gazihusref-beys – a covered market-bazaar built in early 16th century for trading reasons still today serves the original purpose. Just bridge further down the Mijacka river, we shall arrive to Atmejdan park, Latin bridge and assassination point of Franz Ferdinand where we learn the origins of the WW1.We then continue to Sarajevo city centre where we see the Cathedral of Sacred Jesus Hearth, The Eternal flame, Clock tower, and the farmers market. Time for lunch before our transfer to the War Tunnels. Tunnel of Hope, which in period of 1993-1995 was the major “blood line” for heavily besieged and destroyed city.At the Tunnel we will see a short movie about the War in Sarajevo and Tunnel, followed by going through the Tunnel itself. At the exhibition part of the museum we have the opportunity to see many interesting exhibits directly connected with Siege of Sarajevo. In the afternoon return to the city, and stop at Sarajevo Brewery which was founded on May 24th, 1864, and historians consider it the oldest industrial plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sarajevo – Travnik – Jajce – Sarajevo
Today we will visit the central part of Bosnia and its two most beautiful towns. First town is Jajce, the capital of the independent medieval Kingdom of Bosnia, a city of stone, light and water. On the banks of the rivers Pliva and Vrbas we see the royal castle. We then visit the 18-meter high waterfall, place where the river Pliva tumbles abruptly into the Vrbas river. The waterfall is the real trademark of the city. Further visit the medieval Catacombs, located inside the defensive city walls of Jajce are, a monument of particular value and importance.
During lunch time we transfer to Travnik, one of the best-preserved cities from Ottoman times. There are 28 protected cultural and historical buildings in this area. The most important of them are: the medieval fortress, built in the 15th century, Jeni mosque, which is the oldest building from the Ottoman period, Sulejmanija or Šarena mosque, Jezuit Grammar School and Elči Ibrahim-Pasha madrassa – Muslim school that is still used today. There are also two clock towers built in the 18th century, as well as a sundial, built-in 1886. In addition, this charming town is known for its lovely small river that we call Plava Voda or Blue Water located right in the city center. In the afternoon return to Sarajevo for dinner and overnight.
Sarajevo – Lake Rama – Fransiscan Monastery – Mostar
We leave Sarajevo and drive via Jablanica to Lake Rama. Enjoy the nature surrounding this beautiful artificial lake, and visit the Fransiscan Monastery. The Church was constructed in 1881 and it represents one of the most important and best decorated churches in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is a very interesting art gallery in the monastery and an ethnographic museum. The Museum of the Franciscan Monastery Rama-Šćit, housed in the old monastery, is a unique building in BiH, the only one of its kind from the time of Turkish rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina, built in 1857.
It shows life of the inhabitants of the Rama region. There are exhibits of old crafts, economy, means of transport, housing culture, and a textile workshop. After the visit, we transfer to the old town of Mostar; where we spend a free afternoon and overnight.
Mostar – Medjugorje – Blagaj – Mostar
This morning we visit Međugorje, one of the most spiritual and peaceful places on earth. It is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites for Catholics in the world and has turned into Europe’s third most important apparition site. The St. James’s Church is the central place of worship in Medjugorje and the Apparition Hill, site of the first apparitions, is climbed by most pilgrims visiting the shrine. Along the path, a wooden cross marks the site where the Virgin made the first call to peace. Next destination is Blagaj – a haven of peace and natural harmony. Blagaj tour will include Tekke, or the Dervish Monastery that was built around 1520. The monastery is an important monument of the early Ottoman period in Bosnia & Herzegovina. It is located nearby beautiful Spring of River Buna. After the visits, we return to Mostar and visit the city. We see famous Old Bridge of Mostar built in 1566, Kriva Ćuprija, the oldest arch bridge in Mostar, The Hamam – Turkish bath, the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, the second biggest mosque in Mostar, whose original color and wall decorations have been preserved. Visitors are allowed to climb the minaret, which offers a panoramic view of the city and The Old Bridge. We also pass through Kujundžiluk – Old Bazzar, which winds along a small, pretty, cobbled street, dating back to the middle of the 16th century, where characteristic crafts shops and traditional restaurants are found. Dinner with traditional menu and Overnight in Mostar.
Mostar – Pocitelj – Kravice Waterfalls – Mostar
Today we will have an excursion from Mostar to Pocitelj and Kravice Waterfalls. Kravice waterfall, located on Trebižat River in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a mini version of Niagara Falls! For its amazing beauty and untouched nature, it’s protected by Bosnia and Herzegovinia as a natural rarity. After enjoying the nature and panorama in Kravice waterfalls, we transfer to Pocitelj, a medieval town.
Visit the fortress located at 45m above sea level, which offers breathtaking views from above, including the Neretva River. Pass by the impressive Hajji Alija’s mosque, the mekteb (Muslim primary school), the imaret (charitable kitchen), the medresa (Muslim high school), the Hamam (public baths), the han (public inn) and sahat-kula (clock-tower). Afternoon return to Mostar for another delicious dinner in a local restaurant, and overnight.
Mostar – Konjic – Sarajevo
Today we return to Sarajevo, passing through a beautiful green and mountainous countryside road. Along the way we can stop to buy some local products such as honey, cheese or pomegranates. Before arriving to Sarajevo, we stop to visit the ancient town of Konjic, located on the Neretva River. Konjic is known for its Old Stone Bridge, This beautiful bridge was connecting the banks of Neretva river for centuries. It was since 1682, until WW2, when the German occupiers destroyed it, during the withdrawal of their troops. It was reconstructed as the original bridge in 2009, and has been on the list of national monuments. Afternoon in Sarajevo, Farewell dinner in a local restaurant in Sarajevo.
